- Explain what each advanced measurement adds to a standard log suite
- Judge whether a measurement could change the decision at hand
- Write a data-acquisition recommendation with its justification
A short preview
A measurement has value only if some possible result would change what you do. If a field is economic everywhere in its water-saturation range, a dielectric log that narrows that range is interesting but changes no decision, and its value of information is close to zero. The same log in a low-resistivity pay candidate, where the development decision flips somewhere inside the range, can be worth far more than it costs. The module asks that question before it describes any tool.

Prerequisites: The Intermediate Petrophysics track, or several years of interpretation work.
